The unofficial PC version of The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess just received one of its biggest updates yet. The team behind Dusklight has released version 1.4.0, introducing proper mouse support alongside a long list of performance improvements, bug fixes, and quality-of-life additions.

Performance has also received a substantial overhaul. According to the developers, some CPU-limited systems can see improvements of up to four times in certain scenarios thanks to renderer optimizations and more efficient GPU frame handling. The result should be smoother gameplay and more stable frame rates throughout the game.

Texture modders are getting some love too. The update introduces ASTC DDS support for texture replacements, making it easier to create optimized packs for different devices. Players can also customize free-camera sensitivity more precisely and preview texture replacement settings before enabling them.

On top of that, several crashes have been fixed, including issues found in Zora’s Domain, Hidden Village, and the Forest Temple. Visual problems related to texture handling, rendering, and shader caching have also been addressed.

The Twilight Princess fan community has spent years improving the experience on PC, and update 1.4.0 continues that trend. Whether you’re revisiting Hyrule or playing through the game for the first time, this latest version appears to offer the smoothest experience yet.
