Yogscast Games and Save Sloth Studios will release The Royal Writ for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and Nintendo Switch on September 10th, 2026.

The medieval roguelike deckbuilder will also join Xbox Game Pass on launch day. It originally arrived for PC through Steam in August 2025. Players command an army of illustrated creatures by deploying cards across one to three lanes. Units advance towards the enemy gates with each turn, while base power and multiplication modifiers determine how much damage they can inflict.

Movement also creates a permanent risk. A fighter that reaches the opposing base or falls into a battlefield hazard is permanently removed from the player’s deck, forcing each run to continue without that card.

The console edition includes the latest PC improvements and content. These additions cover Final Boss and Act II balance changes, the Postbag and Fishing Rod equipment, and four cards named Excision, Last Resort, Excavation Permit and Mushroom Break.

Further optimisation, balancing adjustments and bug fixes have been prepared for the console release. More information is available on the Steam page. For another compulsive roguelike deckbuilder, read our Balatro retrospective.
