Gallipoli First Free Expansion Adds Tanks, Proximity Chat and a New Battlefield

Gallipoli only launched last month, but BlackMill Games is already preparing its first free post-launch expansion, and one of its additions is something the WW1 Game Series has never featured before: tanks.

The Second Expedition expansion will launch on October 1 and introduce the new Ali Al Muntar map, inspired by the strategic hill fought over during the Second Battle of Gaza in World War I.

What makes the map particularly interesting is the arrival of tanks. They will not be directly controllable, but will instead cinematically escort players at the beginning of the battle. It is a relatively small addition mechanically, although seeing armored vehicles finally appear in the series should help make Ali Al Muntar feel noticeably different from previous battlefields.

The Second Expedition is also bringing eight new weapons, additional time-of-day and weather presets, and proximity voice chat. New paid cosmetic DLC will arrive alongside the free content. BlackMill Games previously confirmed that Gallipoli will receive several years of post-launch support, so this is only the beginning of its roadmap.

Gallipoli released last month for PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S with full crossplay. The latest entry in the WW1 Game Series focuses on the Gallipoli campaign and wider Ottoman Front, with British Empire and Ottoman forces fighting across large 25v25 battles.

Considering how quickly this first expansion is arriving, BlackMill certainly does not seem interested in letting Gallipoli sit still for very long.
