Spud Gun Ltd, the company behind the popular YouTube channel Mashed, and Melbot Studios SL, the developers of the rougelike game GodsTV, have announced a new collaboration. The two companies will work together to produce an animated series based on the upcoming game. The news comes as the Kickstarter campaign for GodsTV is nearing its end, having already surpassed its funding goal in the first 24 hours.
The Managing Director at Spud Gun Studios Tom Payne is excited about the partnership: “We were blown away by GodsTV the moment it came into our orbit, the characters and storylines feel instantly unique and exciting.” He added that his team is looking forward to helping bring the game to life through animation and believes their audience will love it.
On the other side, Josema Roig, the Creative Director at Melbot, shared a sentiment opinion stating that “finding passionate partners for their passion project was a blast”. He noted that the shared love for humor and the absurd made the collaboration feel right, and he believes the partnership could become something truly special within the indie game world.
GodsTV is a top-down roguelike game that follows a crew of misfits who are competing to become famous on a reality TV show. The game is set in a future where alien megacorporations have become as powerful as gods. These entities have created a reality show that influencers could only dream of, where champions from different planets compete for fame and the support of a god they’ve committed to.
