Fans of dark fantasy and intense co-op experiences received a new look at Blight: Survival during the Future Games Show Spring Showcase on March 12, 2026. The gameplay footage and developer interview highlighted the game’s brutal combat, grim atmosphere, and high-risk extraction gameplay, further building anticipation around one of the most talked-about indie action titles in development.

Developed by Haenir Studio and published by Behaviour Interactive, the game takes players to a bleak alternate version of the 14th century. Two kingdoms are locked in endless war, but the real threat emerges from the battlefield dead. A horrifying fungal infection known as the Blight spreads across the land, transforming fallen soldiers into grotesque monsters that thrive on blood and decay.

You step into the role of the Writhens, outcast warriors who venture into infected territories where others fear to tread. Their objective is to gather resources, survive encounters with both monsters and desperate humans, and eventually uncover the source of the plague. The world itself is as dangerous as its enemies, with ruined villages, fog-covered forests, and decaying fortresses creating a haunting medieval setting.

Combat is a major focus of the experience. The game features directional melee fighting that emphasizes timing, positioning, and skillful attacks such as parries, dodges, and combos. Weapons like swords, axes, and shields feel heavy and impactful, making each encounter tense and satisfying. The footage shown during the event highlighted chaotic battles against infected hordes, where teamwork becomes essential for survival.

Beyond combat, the game blends roguelite progression with an extraction-style loop. You venture into dangerous zones to collect valuable gear and loot, deciding whether to safely escape with their rewards or risk pushing deeper for greater gains. Failure can cost players the resources gathered during a run, but progression systems ensure long-term growth through experience and upgrades.

The title is currently planned to launch first on PC via Steam, with potential versions for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X and Series S under consideration. While a release date has not yet been announced, playtests are expected in 2026.
