Generation Exile, the sci-fi colony simulation developed by Sonderlust Studios, is set to exit Early Access and launch its full 1.0 version on April 17, 2026 via Steam. The release coincides with the fifth annual Earth Appreciation Festival and marks the culmination of an extended development period shaped heavily by community feedback.

Set aboard humanity’s first and final generation ship, Generation Exile places you in the role of a Caretaker tasked with rebuilding society after Earth’s collapse. Players must establish settlements across diverse environments within the ship, including Grasslands, Taiga, and Rainforest biomes, each presenting unique challenges. Resource management, production optimization, and long-term planning are central to survival, as you guide humanity through a fragile and uncertain journey in search of a new home among the stars.

The full release introduces a range of new features designed to deepen both gameplay and narrative. Among the most notable additions is a final “planetfall preparation” chapter, offering various challenges and a standalone sandbox mode. Expanded building options, refined systems, and an increased number of narrative events further improve the experience, while the game’s generational simulation allows characters to age, form families, and carry memories across decades.

During its Early Access phase, the game saw significant expansion, including the addition of multiple biomes, new gameplay systems, and deeper simulation mechanics.
