Unknown Worlds has announced a limited-time Free Weekend for Subnautica, alongside franchise-wide discounts, as anticipation builds for the upcoming Early Access launch of Subnautica 2.

The Free Weekend will allow players to experience Subnautica at no cost on Steam and the Epic Games Store from April 2 to April 6, followed by an Xbox Free Play Days event running from April 9 to April 12. In parallel, significant discounts will be available across digital storefronts. On PC platforms, both Subnautica and Subnautica: Below Zero will be discounted by 75% for a limited time, while Xbox players can access the titles at 50% off through mid-April.

The promotion comes as Subnautica 2 continues to generate strong interest ahead of its Early Access debut. The sequel moves away from Planet 4546B, introducing a completely new alien world powered by Unreal Engine 5, with improved visuals and previously unseen ecosystems. It also marks a major shift for the series by adding optional cooperative multiplayer for up to four players, allowing teams to explore and survive together.

With the franchise having sold over 18.5 million copies worldwide, Subnautica remains one of the defining titles in the survival genre.
