Unboxing Mr. Coo, the newest project from Spanish solo developer Nacho Rodríguez, made its world premiere during the Future Games Show Spring Showcase on March 12, 2026. The game serves as a spiritual follow-up to the award-winning The Many Pieces of Mr. Coo and once again dives into the strange, humorous world of its iconic yellow protagonist.

The premise begins with something simple: Mr. Coo receives a gift box and tries to open it. What should be a straightforward task quickly spirals into a surreal adventure when the present transforms into an enormous mechanical puzzle full of drawers, gears, secret compartments, and bizarre creatures. Players explore the interior of this ever-changing contraption, solving its mysteries while navigating a dreamlike world of animated chaos.

Like its predecessor, the game tells its entire story without dialogue or written text. Instead, expressive hand-drawn animations, sound effects, and visual storytelling guide players through each puzzle. The style evokes classic cartoon comedy, with Mr. Coo constantly reacting to unexpected mechanical surprises and strange creatures popping out of hidden corners of the box.

Gameplay centers on point-and-click exploration, encouraging you to experiment with levers, knobs, drawers, and switches. Every interaction triggers elaborate animated reactions, turning even failed attempts into amusing moments. The puzzles often rely on creative thinking, as the bizarre box rarely behaves the way players expect.

You can wishlist the game on Steam.
