Ghost Vanguard Launches Kickstarter with New Demo, Blending Devil May Cry Style with Roguelike Depth

The small, two-person indie team Wombo Combo Games based in Japan has launched a Kickstarter campaign for their dark fantasy roguelike beat ’em up Ghost Vanguard. This game promises to mash up the stylistic, high-octane action of titles like Devil May Cry and the side-scrolling depth of Dragon’s Crown within a Castlevania and Berserk-inspired dark world, and is seeking a funding goal of $20,000 to complete its development.

The gameplay is focused on deep build customization, allowing you to unlock powerful synergies through a wide variety of weapons, spells, and relics. Each element shapes a unique combo style, ensuring every run through the gothic labyrinths feels new. Weapons have their own combo trees, tempo, and tactical depth, while levels are filled with diverse special rooms, including challenge zones, trap chests, and arcade-inspired mini-games.

Currently available for backers to pledge with a 20% discount, the campaign is aiming to bring the game to Steam and Nintendo Switch as a core offering, with stretch goals planned to add ports for PlayStation and Xbox, along with new playable characters, NG+ modes, and additional language support. To allow players to test their game before pledging, Wombo Combo Games has also released a brand new demo that is available now on Steam.
