Slots & Daggers, the roguelike deckbuilder with a slot-machine combat twist, has achieved remarkable success. Since launching on October 24, 2025 it has sold over 100,000 copies on Steam in just ten days. This is particularly impressive as the game was made entirely by one person, German developer Friedemann Jordan, in only six months.
The game is a turn-based roguelike in which players construct decks of “daggers” (cards) to explore procedural dungeons. The core innovation is using slot reels to resolve combat. This system cleverly mimics the suspense of a Dungeons & Dragons ability check, where rolling high leads to critical hits and low results in blunder.
Following the intense launch period, developer Jordan provided an update on Steam, indicating a slight shift in focus: “The build is now feeling very stable and in a great place overall, so I’ll be slowing down the update pace a little over the next days. I want to take a bit of time to recover from the intense launch and then start shifting focus toward new playable content and features!”
Currently available on PC via Steam for 7.79 €, Slots & Daggers has already earned an “Very Positive” rating, with 94% approval across more than 1,480 reviews.
