The critically acclaimed Viking-themed survival game Valheim is officially coming to PlayStation 5 in 2026. This announcement, made by developers Iron Gate Studio and publisher Coffee Stain Publishing, marks the game’s expansion to the PlayStation ecosystem, five years after its initial PC launch on Steam and three years after its arrival on Xbox.
Since its debut in Early Access on Steam in February 2021, Valheim has become a standout hit in the survival genre, selling over 12 million copies and earning a “Very Positive” rating from more than 507,820 reviews. Praised for its atmospheric world-building and challenging combat, the game places you in a procedurally generated purgatory where they must build, craft, and battle to survive.
The PlayStation 5 port is being handled by Piktiv, the same studio that assisted with the Xbox cross-play and PC Game Pass integration. This arrangement allows Iron Gate to focus on developing the game’s final major content update “Deep North” as well as the anticipated 1.0 full release, which is also slated for 2026. The PS5 launch is speculated to align with the game’s 1.0 release to ensure a polished experience for new players.
