The dungeon of Mordecoom has lived on as a dark legend for years, whispered about in old books and forgotten stories. Now, that myth is stepping into the spotlight as Roguecraft prepares to reach a new audience. First built in Assembly language for 1990s Amiga computers, the retro-style isometric roguelike is moving beyond vintage hardware with upcoming releases on Steam and Nintendo Switch.

You take on the role of Zendar, an explorer who has spent his entire life chasing clues and solving puzzles to find Mordecoom. Ancient texts found in an Egyptian library speak of endless treasure hidden inside, enough to make a king. As Zendar descends through areas like the Crypt of Decay, the tone slowly shifts from classic dungeon adventure into full Lovecraft-style horror. Twisted creatures, creeping tentacles, and a heavy sense of dread fill the halls, backed by a moody soundtrack from Amiga scene veteran Jogeir Liljedahl and harsh sound effects by h0ffman.

Roguecraft is easy to pick up but hard to master. Each run lasts around 30 to 40 minutes and is built to make players want to try again after every defeat. Combat uses a simple turn-based system where movement and attacks are controlled with basic directions, while a single button opens access to potions, scrolls, and magical items.
