Secret Mode Becomes Independent Indie Publisher, Acquired by Emona Capital

Financial investor Emona Capital LLP has partnered with Ed Blincoe and James Schall to complete the successful acquisition of Secret Mode, a publishing house specializing in indie games. With this move, Secret Mode becomes an independent publisher, with the full backing of Emona Capital, while continuing its mission of promoting creativity and innovation in the indie gaming scene.

Established as part of the Sumo Group in 2020, Secret Mode quickly gained a reputation for its positive approach to publishing for PC and consoles. In just a few years, the publishing house won prestigious awards, including the UKIE Best UK Publisher Award 2024 and the Best Influencer Marketing Award at the recent Debug Indie Game Awards. Their portfolio includes numerous critically and commercially successful titles such as Still Wakes the Deep, A Little to the Left, Wobbledogs, and Eternal Threads.

Ed Blincoe of Secret Mode emphasized that the partnership with Emona Capital is an opportunity to fully focus on the indie scene. “Secret Mode is passionate about supporting creativity and innovation in the indie space, and we are delighted to partner with Emona Capital to deepen that focus even further. We also want to thank Sumo for believing in our original vision and enabling us to become fully independent,” Blincoe said.

James Schall added that independence will allow Secret Mode to dedicate itself to discovering hidden indie gems. “Our goal is to provide players with the best indie titles, both those that are just emerging and those that may have gone unnoticed in the past. We are working to empower independent developers worldwide and hope to announce some exciting news soon,” Schall pointed out.
