My Winter Car, the long-awaited sequel to cult hit My Summer Car, launched in Early Access on December 29, 2025, and quickly drew massive attention. Within hours, it passed 21,000 concurrent players, becoming the top-selling game on Steam. The project is made by Finnish solo developer Amistech Games, and its sudden success shows just how strong its fan base has become.

My Winter Car builds on everything the original game was known for, but makes the experience even more unforgiving by setting it in the middle of a Finnish winter. The game is played in first person and focuses on building a car from scratch using nearly 200 separate parts. This includes the engine, body, and suspension, all of which must be assembled piece by piece. At the same time, survival plays a major role. Body temperature, hunger, and tiredness must be watched closely, and wearing warm clothes is essential to avoid freezing. Death is permanent, which makes every mistake costly.

The world outside the garage is just as dangerous. Driving takes place on snowy dirt roads, icy highways, and even frozen lakes, all with realistic physics that punish careless movement. The map is filled with vehicles from the 1960s to the 1990s, including trucks, tractors, and other old machines. Making money requires taking on small jobs, managing expenses, and staying out of trouble with police patrols. Racing events are also available, whether taking part or just watching, but the overall mood stays lonely and grim.

On day one, My Winter Car reached a peak of 21,226 concurrent player, far surpassing the original My Summer Car, which peaked at around 5,900 users in 2016. The momentum continued into December 30, with more than 11,000 players still playing at once. Reviews have also been extremely positive, with over 97 percent of more than 3,360 reviews recommending the game.
