Kepler Interactive and Alpha Channel have revealed TankRat, a fully reworked version of the singleplayer tank action game formerly known as TankHead. The game is set to launch in Spring 2026 on PlayStation 5 and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store. Players who already own TankHead on the Epic Games Store will receive the TankRat upgrade for free.
In TankRat, you step into the role of Whitaker, a digital mind called a Sleepwalker who lives inside a small but tough drone known as a Needle. Whitaker’s only goal is to survive the dangerous Dead Zone while searching for answers about the Shroud, a deadly radioactive storm that bends time, memory, and reality.
Progress in TankRat is fully tied to scavenging where players explore the ruins of a fallen high-tech world to gather parts, weapons, armor, and special tech. Every enemy can be broken down, and their parts can be taken and added to your own machine. By rebuilding you vehicle again and again, you grow stronger with each run through the wasteland.
Compared to the original TankHead, TankRat offers much more story content, new bosses, biomes, more ways to customize vehicles, and a tighter combat system. All of these changes turn TankRat into the full and final vision of the original idea.
