Atmospheric sci-fi adventures often stand out for their sense of mystery and discovery, and CALX appears ready to deliver exactly that. The game, previously known as XTAL, unveiled a new gameplay and release date trailer during the Future Games Show Spring Showcase, confirming that the PC version will launch on June 4, 2026.

Developed by Italian indie studio True Colors and published by Dear Villagers, the game places players in the role of a lone Seeker exploring the mysterious planet Syro. The alien world has been corrupted by a strange force known as WARP, leaving behind vast landscapes of towering crystals, floating ruins, and fragments of the long-lost Quoths civilization.

Movement plays a central role in the experience. Players can double jump, dash through the air, levitate, and use a grappling hook to traverse the interconnected environments. As new abilities are unlocked, previously unreachable areas become accessible, giving the game a Metroidvania-style progression where exploration constantly reveals new secrets and paths.

When it comes to the combat, you can combine melee attacks with ranged abilities provided by your companion AFX, using agility and perfectly timed dodges to overcome enemies. Rather than relying on pure aggression, encounters often feel like movement-based puzzles where positioning and timing are key to survival.

With an estimated playtime of around 10 to 15 hours, CALX aims to deliver a focused but replayable adventure inspired by classics like Metroid and Hyper Light Drifter. The game will first arrive on Steam and the Epic Games Store on June 4, 2026, with versions for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch planned for later in the year.
