Developer Sunscorched Studios has announced KEYKRUNCHER, a first-person horror roguelite that challenges players to survive a disturbing treatment program centered around consuming keyboards. The game is now open for Steam wishlisting as it continues development ahead of its planned 2026 PC release.

Created by the studio behind the surreal horror title RATSHAKER, KEYKRUNCHER places players in an experimental assessment room where they have been permanently fused to a desk. Armed with a scrambled keyboard, a mysterious gumball machine and increasingly unsettling instructions from a nearby monitor, players must complete escalating treatment sessions while trying to stay alive.

Unlike traditional horror games, KEYKRUNCHER directly incorporates your real keyboard into its gameplay. You press keys on your physical keyboard to “crunch” matching keycaps in-game or interact with objects using the mouse. Every run randomizes the keyboard layout, objectives, rewards and treatment conditions, creating a constantly changing roguelite experience.

As you progress, you can collect tokens and gamble them in a sinister gumball machine to unlock consumables, cursed keycaps and desk charms that alter future encounters. Success depends on carefully balancing risk and reward while surviving increasingly bizarre treatment lessons and whatever lurks at the end of the hallway.
