Annapurna Interactive has announced Demi and the Fractured Dream, an upcoming action-adventure game from debut indie studio Yarn Owl. The title was revealed during the recent Annapurna Direct From Tokyo, and channels the nostalgic spirit of classic 3D Zelda games. It is scheduled for release in 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam and Epic Games Store.
The game is set in the dream-like world of Somnus, where you play as Demi. As a young hero, Demi sets out to defeat the legendary Accursed Beasts. Guided by a mysterious voice, he journeys through realms filled with ruins, forests, and floating islands.
The story explores themes of dreams, loss, and restoration, with the world’s history unfolding through echoes of forgotten memories and dynamic encounters with spectral guardians. This blend of wonder and melancholy recalls the exploration found in classic titles like Ocarina of Time.
The core gameplay emphasizes versatile combat, as players wield an arsenal of melee weapons and magical projectiles to perform stylish combos against hordes of nightmarish enemies. Additionally, Demi can summon spectral allies or manipulate dream shards to reshape the terrain.
Puzzle-solving is also integrated into traversal mechanics, allowing players to access hidden sanctums and unlock upgrades with a grappling hook and time-bending dashes.
