Astronook Is a Cozy Space Game About Stars, Memories and Discovery

The cozy gaming genre is reaching for the stars with Astronook, a relaxing space exploration game by solo developer FrozenYetiGames. The game is set to launch on January 19, 2026 on PC via Steam and follows a well-received demo that stood out for its calm mood and pacing. Instead of fast action or complex systems, Astronook offers a quiet and thoughtful journey through space, all experienced from a small and familiar room.

Players step into their late grandfather’s study, a peaceful space filled with memories, books, and a telescope pointed toward the night sky. From this room, the entire game unfolds. Stargazing and space photography form the heart of the experience, allowing you to explore the universe at your own speed.

The full release will include five stages of exploration, each opening new parts of the sky to study. Over time, you can solve star-mapping puzzles to uncover 50 hand-crafted constellations, photograph 25 different planets, and record five major space discoveries.

Progress in Astronook is closely tied to a scrapbook system that gives the game a personal and hands-on feel. After finding stars and planets using a star chart, players can take photos through the telescope and print them out. These images are placed into a growing scrapbook that tracks planets, special space events, and constellations. As the pages fill, a quiet and emotional story begins to take shape, slowly revealing more about the grandfather’s life and his love for the stars.
