Post-apocalyptic Earth? Check. A massive super-heavy tank? Check. Fighting alone against enemy tanks and alien creatures? Check. Tank upgrades? Check. Breaking Armor is a horror game from self-published indie developer GalaDev that focuses on realistic tank simulator controls, and it is already available to wishlist on Steam. According to the developer, a demo version may also arrive soon.
The game has already reached around 16,000 wishlists and the main appeal of this first-person experience is that you fully control a modified E-100 super-heavy WWII tank, equipped with a Maus turret, a huge 128mm main cannon, and a 75mm secondary gun. You explore a ruined, post-apocalyptic Earth filled with hidden threats. The 140-ton tank is both your main weapon and your only safe place, mixing slow, tactical armored combat with psychological horror in a low-poly art style that focuses on isolation and tension.
Gameplay is built around deep and realistic tank operations. You physically move inside the tank by clicking on levers, seats, and control stations to change roles. Before missions, you must refuel, refill oxygen, manually load shells into the breech, and attach modular upgrades, including external equipment that improves performance or changes the tank’s look.
Between missions, you return to your bunker, where you can decorate the tank’s interior with small items to help keep morale up while the danger outside grows. Scouting drones can also be used to search for monsters hiding in the fog-covered ruins.
