Cozy Sandbox Bento Story Blends Culinary Creativity with Content Creation

Share:

Upcoming cozy sandbox game Bento Story, from developer Clay Game Studio, invites you into a world inspired by the charm of Japanese bento culture and kawaii aesthetics. The small, award-winning indie team based in Malang, Indonesia, known for experiences like Faerie Afterlight, will both develop and publish the title, which focuses on culinary creativity and social sharing.

In Bento Story, you become an aspiring bento-making content creator. The main part of the game revolves around mastering the art of the meal box, which means you must gather and prepare ingredients. This involves tasks like cooking rice until it’s fluffy, slicing vegetables into shapes, and molding eggs into cute characters. Afterward, you arrange these elements into eye-catching bento boxes.

These boxes are finished with proteins, cute decorations, and thematic elements that reflect seasonal or festive vibes, encouraging endless experimentation to discover visually stunning combinations. As you make successful creations and your reputation grows, you unlock a growing collection of new ingredients, stylish containers, and scenic backgrounds. Crucially, this progression system rewards consistency and flair without any competitive pressure.

To complete the influencer experience, a dedicated Content Creator Mode lets you snap professional photos of your creations. You can customize photos with different camera angles, artistic filters, and playful stickers. These virtual “posts” then track your rising popularity with metrics like likes and followers, immersing players in the life of a food influencer.

Bento Story is scheduled for release on PC via Steam.
