Is Xbox Prime Microsoft’s next-generation console?

Share:

As the fourth anniversary of the Xbox Series X and S consoles approaches, rumors about Microsoft’s next-generation plans are getting louder. A new rumor recently emerged that the next Xbox console could be codenamed Xbox Prime and launched in 2026.

This information came from TheGhostOfHope, a source known for leaking Call of Duty-related information, who stated that the development of the new Xbox console is an “open secret” within the gaming industry.

The same source mentions that Microsoft’s handheld device, whose existence was confirmed by Xbox head Phil Spencer, will be released after the new console. Spencer previously stated that the handheld system is still a few years away from release, which aligns with the mentioned timeframe. Although the codename and release year are interesting, these claims lack solid confirmation. Even Jez Corden, could neither confirm nor deny this rumor.

It is important to approach this information with caution, as the source is not known for hardware-related leaks. Still, given that the PS5 Pro is already attracting attention and a direct Xbox competitor has not yet been announced, it would not be surprising for Microsoft to be preparing for its next big move. For now, players should consider this news as speculation until official announcements arrive.
