Polyarc is giving its beloved VR franchise a second life with Moss: The Forgotten Relic, a completely reimagined flatscreen version of the studio’s acclaimed fantasy adventures. For the first time, players will finally be able to experience the world of Moss without needing a VR headset.
Instead of simply porting the VR experience over to standard screens, Polyarc is combining both Moss and Moss: Book II into one complete package. The new version follows Quill, the small but fearless white mouse at the center of the series, as she journeys through a beautifully crafted fantasy world filled with forgotten ruins, ancient magic, puzzles, and dangerous enemies.
One of the reasons the original Moss games stood out so much in VR was their storybook presentation and emotional atmosphere, and thankfully, it sounds like that remains the focus here as well. The game still revolves around exploration, puzzle-solving, platforming, and the growing connection between Quill and the mysterious spirit guiding her through the adventure.
While the VR originals were widely praised, a lot of players simply never got the chance to experience them because they didn’t own a headset. According to Polyarc, this new version was specifically created in response to those requests, and from the footage shown so far, the transition to traditional controls seems surprisingly natural.
Moss: The Forgotten Relic is currently scheduled to release in Summer 2026 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam.
