Whiskerwood Just Got Ships, Pirates, Naval Battles and an Entire Ocean to Explore

If building an increasingly complicated mouse colony was not already enough to keep you busy in Whiskerwood, Hooded Horse and Minakata Dynamics have now decided that your tiny workers should probably have an entire ocean to worry about as well.

Whiskerwood’s new Nautical Update takes the city builder beyond its islands by introducing ship construction, ocean exploration, naval logistics, trading and even combat against pirates.

Players can unlock the new systems through a questline involving a disgruntled whisker living aboard a converted lifeboat. From there, increasingly capable ships become available, although every vessel needs both a crew and enough supplies to complete its journey without starving somewhere in the middle of the ocean.

Ships can be assigned to different docks depending on what you need them to do. Some will transport goods around your colony, while others can explore the wider world, trade with remote settlements or participate in combat missions.

Exploration now takes place across a grid-based world map filled with new colonies, resources and pirate bases. Those resources can then feed back into your existing settlement, giving the naval side of Whiskerwood a reason to connect with everything you have already built.

You can also assemble escorts and larger flotillas before attacking pirate strongholds, which makes this feel considerably more substantial than a simple content drop.
