The legendary vehicle combat series is returning with Carmageddon: Rogue Shift, a roguelite action racer announced by developer 34BigThings. The first trailer appeared during the PC Gaming Show 2025: Most Wanted, promising a fresh take on the classic Carmageddon formula for a new generation.
The game takes place in the year 2050, where the world has become a ruined wasteland. Each night, humanity is attacked by swarms of monstrous creatures called the Wasted, forcing survivors to seal themselves inside towering buildings for safety. The only escape from this nightmare lies in the brutal Carmageddon races. You enter the event as one of many desperate racers, starting with nothing more than a rusty car, scavenged fuel, and a makeshift weapon. Rival gangs such as the Autoscum, along with corrupt police units known as the Enforcers, make survival even harder.
Carmageddon: Rogue Shift sharpens the chaotic spirit of the original games into fast, violent, and easy-to-pick-up combat racing. You can select from a range of upgradeable vehicles, each with its own handling style and physical traits. Combat is filled with ramming, boosting, and smashing enemies while using a wide selection of weapons, each of which can be upgraded. More than eighty perks allow players to build absurd combinations and push their destructive potential even further.
A day–night cycle also and changing weather shape each race, with rain affecting grip and fog hiding threats. Cars show damage in detail as windshields shatter, hoods bend, and panels rip away under stress. Plus, every campaign unfolds as its own journey through a procedurally generated map. Between attempts, Beatcoins earned can be spent at the Black Market to unlock permanent upgrades or new content, helping shape the perfect killing machine over time.
Carmageddon: Rogue Shift is scheduled to launch in early 2026 on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
