At this year’s Gamescom, Ritual Studios announced a new turn-based RPG. Fretless – The Wrath of Riffson, a pixel-art rhythm-infused game, is expected to release sometime in 2024, but a PC demo is already available on Steam.

In the expressive rock-music world of Fretless – The Wrath of Riffson, players embark on a journey to restore harmony to a land thrown into chaos by the evil Rick Riffson. Playing as the friendly musician Rob, your goal is to battle Riffson’s minions and hybrids of monsters and instruments to free musicians from contracts that bind their souls.

The game encourages you to explore a universe inspired by musician Rob Scallon. Using a deck-building combat system in turn-based battles allows you to compose your own pieces and create a unique playstyle. Music, like the game itself, is for everyone. Whether you’re a casual listener or a rhythm master, hitting the right note at the right time will help you craft your own symphony.
