The minimalist strategy hit Thronefall is entering a new chapter. Its original creators, Grizzly Games, have officially passed the rights to the game to UK-based publisher Mythwright. The game has sold over one million copies and holds an “Overwhelmingly Positive” rating from more than 10,000 reviews on Steam.
The decision came from Grizzly Games’ two developers, Paul Schnepf and Jonas Tyroller, who wanted to give the game more room to grow while freeing themselves to work on new ideas. Schnepf explained that as a very small team, they often felt limited in how far they could push Thronefall. By trusting Mythwright with the game, they believe it can now reach its full potential without losing what made it special in the first place.
Mythwright is well known for supporting small but creative games, and the team is clearly excited about taking over Thronefall. Stuart Morton, Mythwright’s Publishing Director, said the game is a favorite inside the company thanks to its clean design and strong focus on strategy. These core ideas will remain untouched as the publisher looks to expand the game’s future. Thronefall now joins Mythwright’s growing lineup, which includes upcoming titles like Bladesong, Kaiju Cleanup, and TerraTech Legion.
The change in ownership will not affect the game’s existing platform support. Mythwright will continue working with Doghowl Games, the studio behind the popular mobile versions on Android and iOS.
