Longdue unveiled an atmospheric teaser for their upcoming CRPG Hopetown, along with new details about the key talents shaping this project. The Kickstarter campaign for Hopetown will be launched on March 17th. The game promises a deep narrative experience, inspired by titles such as Disco Elysium and Planescape: Torment, with innovative mechanics that explore the impact of the environment and the role of journalism in shaping the world.
Longdue revealed that Lenval Brown, the recognizable voice of the narrator from Disco Elysium, will be a key part of the project, lending his voice to one of the main characters in the game. In addition to Brown, the team is joined by Martin Luiga, founder of the ZA/UM cultural association and a writer who contributed to the stories in Disco Elysium. Luiga will help shape the narrative and systems for Hopetown, and will strive to tell a rich story based on the past, present, and possibilities of the future. Piotr Sobolewski, who led a team of 15 people on Disco Elysium, is also part of the project.
Hopetown is set in a mining town gripped by decay and transformation, where words become the most powerful weapon, and every choice leaves a mark. We take on the role of a journalist investigating corruption, ambition, and the fragile systems that hold society together. The town is an arena of extremes, from the dark depths of the mines to the surface that shines with promises of progress but is permeated by corruption.
In addition, the game introduces a psychogeographical system that changes the way we, as players, connect with the game world. Emotions, memories, and conversations replace traditional mechanics like keys and levers, becoming tools for unlocking doors, changing the landscape, and shaping relationships.
