Publisher tinyBuild and developer Mandragora have announced that ReStory will launch for PC via Steam on August 6. The cozy simulation game invites players to run an electronics repair shop set in Y2K-era Japan, combining hands-on restoration mechanics with shop management and a branching narrative.
In ReStory, you will repair a wide range of early-2000s technology, including mobile phones, handheld gaming systems, digital pets, music players, cameras, home appliances, and video game consoles. Each device requires careful work, from unscrewing and cleaning components to soldering, repainting, and reassembling them into working condition.
Beyond repairing gadgets, you must manage the day-to-day operation of their business by accepting customer orders, balancing finances, and sourcing replacement parts through a nostalgic in-game web browser inspired by the early internet.
The game also places a strong emphasis on storytelling. Customers bring more than broken electronics to the shop, as each has their own personal story. Conversations and player choices influence a non-linear narrative, affecting both the lives of clients and the future of the repair business.
One of ReStory’s standout features is its official partnership with Atari, allowing players to restore licensed hardware such as the Atari 2600, Atari Jaguar, and other classic systems.
