Microsoft has announced a series of long-awaited updates to the Xbox achievement system, marking one of the first major platform changes under newly appointed Xbox CEO Asha Sharma, who stepped into the role in February 2026. Sharma confirmed that a dedicated internal team has been formed to monitor community requests and deliver meaningful improvements.
The upcoming changes focus on both presentation and usability. Achievements will now feature updated animations and icons designed to make unlocking them feel more visually rewarding. In addition, players will gain the ability to hide specific games from their achievements list, a highly requested feature that allows users to manage their profiles more effectively. Completed games will also be highlighted more clearly, giving completionists a better way to showcase their 100% progress.
We stood up a dedicated team to focus on fan feedback. Here are a few Achievements updates rolling out today, more coming soon. https://t.co/vXfa2nlNhI

These features are being rolled out initially to Xbox Insiders as part of the May 2026 console preview, with a wider release planned over the coming months. Early reactions from the community have been largely positive, with many players praising the relatively quick response to long-standing feedback.
Players have also suggested adding a system similar to PlayStation’s Platinum trophies, clearer separation between base game and downloadable content achievements, and automated capture features for rare unlocks. Other ideas include extending achievement support to original Xbox titles through backward compatibility and introducing rewards tied to milestones such as total gamerscore or completion counts.
