Shown during the Story-Rich Showcase 2026, Building Relationships is a dating adventure from solo developer Tan Ant Games. The premise is exactly as ridiculous as it sounds: you play as a house that arrives on a cozy island in search of romance with other anthropomorphic buildings.
But beneath the absurd setup is a surprisingly heartfelt experience. As you explore the island, you’ll meet a cast of memorable characters ranging from flirty windmills to lovable tents, each with their own personalities, stories, and relationship paths. The game focuses on building connections through conversations while also embracing plenty of weird humor along the way.
Rather than simply walking from place to place, your house can roll, jump, and even wave-dash across a variety of colorful environments. From snowy mountains and forests to flower-filled fields, the world is packed with secrets, collectibles, and side activities. There’s even a fishing minigame where you catch cars instead of fish, because apparently that’s the sensible thing to do here.
Following its showcase appearance, the game has now been confirmed for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. Building Relationships is currently targeting a 2026 release, and if you’re looking for a dating sim that’s willing to get a little strange, this is definitely one worth keeping an eye on.
