Publisher tinyBuild and development teams Hologryph and TowerHaus have announced that SAND, an action PvPvE multiplayer shooter set in a world of mechs, will be available in Steam Early Access starting April 3, 2025. The game promises an intense experience of exploring vast sand dunes, customizing mechs, and battling other teams to secure wealth and dominance.
SAND is set in an alternative history, where the Austro-Hungarian Empire spearheads the colonization of space in the 19th century. Humanity travels among the stars, while the planet Sophie lies in ruins after an ecological catastrophe evaporated the world’s oceans. Now, only the bravest and most ruthless treasure hunters, working alone or in teams, track and fight across the deadly deserts of Sophie, abandoned settlements, and other locations in search of hidden riches.
Players have already had the opportunity to experience the unforgiving terrain and intense gameplay of SAND through a demo that was among the top 10 most-played titles at Steam Next Fest last year, as well as through a highly successful open playtest that attracted over 200,000 testers. The Early Access phase will bring numerous improvements and continued development to keep players motivated to return to Sophie.
In the Early Access version, SAND introduces a range of new features, including new cities, points of interest, and even more loot. Furthermore, you will face new challenges like various NPCs roaming the cities and engaging in combat, and hazards such as minefields. Revised controls for Tramplers and new customization options, including new compartment and chassis options, will further enrich the experience.
