It has become normal these days to accept that an indie game like Sultan’s Game can sell a million copies on Steam, especially considering it isn’t a co-op title but a fully fledged narrative-driven RPG card game inspired by Turkey and Asia Minor. It’s genuinely interesting how indie developers openly share sales numbers, while a giant like Assassin’s Creed Shadows simply states that the game “reached a million players.”

After selling more than 600,000 copies in its first month, Sultan’s Game continued to gain momentum. It quickly became a Steam hit thanks to its intriguing story inspired by One Thousand and One Nights and its innovative card-based mechanics. You play as a court advisor navigating the ruthless political game of the sultan, drawing weekly cards that dictate challenges themed around lust, luxury, conquest, or sacrifice.

Over the next six months, Sultan’s Game will receive a series of updates. The developers have announced expanded dialogues, improved gallery features, additional narrative content, and brand-new endings that will add fresh layers to this vibrant world. In August 2025, players will also meet a new character created with community input, while fan-favorite characters are set to receive expanded backstories. Steam Workshop support is also planned.

Sultan’s Game is currently available on Steam for 24.50 €, with a 15% discount running until July 24, 2025. You can also read our review here.
