Dylan Fitterer, the creator of the well-known rhythm game Audiosurf, has announced his next project: AUDIOMECH: your music transformed. This new rhythm action game uses a unique idea where any music playing on the player’s computer, even audio from a stream, powers both the player’s weapons and the enemies they face. The game is coming to PC via Steam, though no release date has been confirmed.

AUDIOMECH pushes music sync further than most rhythm games by turning the player’s own soundtrack into the heart of the gameplay. Whether the audio comes from online streaming, local MP3 files, or even a microphone, the game reacts instantly and builds the entire experience around the sounds being played.

The action unfolds by turning musical frequencies into color-coded elements. Low bass notes appear as red, vocals and main instruments show as purple, and high treble sounds appear as blue. These colors can also be changed in the settings. You must constantly react to these elements, since each color affects different attacks, hazards, and enemy behavior.

To survive the fast-paced fights, you switch between three mech forms: the Bass Knight, the Vocal Gunship, and the Treble Bomber. Each form is tied to a different frequency range, so matching the form to the music becomes key to countering incoming threats and dealing damage to rhythm-driven bosses.
