Our Adventure At Poznań Game Arena 2025 – Day One

This year, we had the opportunity to participate in Poland’s largest gaming industry event: Poznań Game Arena. We had a weekend full of fun activities, engaging conversations, and, of course, games of all genres. Our first day at the event was devoted to exploration – we got to know the fairgrounds, attended several shows and meetings, and tried out a few interesting titles. 

Off to great start

No wonder Poznań is called the “City of Sensations.” Upon arriving at the main station, we encountered a colorful and dynamic crowd that carried us to the venue. Despite the train delay, we managed to arrive just in time for the PGA opening gala. On the main stage, both the organizers and city officials took the floor to welcome participants and invite them to immerse themselves in the world of video games. The official opening was also accompanied by the Acanthus Aureus awards ceremony, which recognizes exhibitors who best understand how modern expo marketing builds a company’s image and business value. 

After the gala ended, we decided to look around the various exhibition halls. Among other things, we visited the ESPORT NINJA obstacle course, where esports and traditional sports come together as one. Participants faced obstacles requiring physical skills, such as jumping through a window, sprinting through barrels, or climbing a ramp, but also challenges testing their gaming skills – namely, playing Counter-Strike 2. 

Premieres, tournaments, and meetings 

Our next stop was the launch of the new Komputronik computers. During the show, models from the new line were presented, including three variants: Level Go, Level Up, and Level Pro. However, what surprised us most was the fact that the face of the new brand was none other than the world-famous virtual singer and symbol of modern technology, Hatsune Miku. 

Right after the premiere, we returned to the main stage to witness a historic event: the final of the Polish PGA Championship in Age of Empires IV. Muhodo and Matiz, both associated with Volda E-sport, competed against each other in the final match of the “Broken Copy Tournament.” This time, the student surpassed the master, and it was Muhodo who defeated his mentor, winning the championship trophy. 

After the tournament, we had the opportunity to cool down at a meeting with representatives of CD-Action, a polish magazine dedicated to video games. The discussion with the authors concerned not only the magazine itself, but also the future of gaming press in general. The way reviews are written, the approach to new productions, and the response to processes taking place in the industry—these are all important issues that need to be considered from the perspective of players and creators. 

Journey through games 

We wouldn’t be ourselves if we didn’t find time to play a few games after all that. My first choice was Aviators, an educational adventure game about Polish air personnel during World War II. After flying a plane, I switched to a more common vehicle – a car. In Turbo Liar: Rust & Fast, I had the opportunity to race on Polish roads from the 1970s and 1980s, showing off my drifting skills. 

There was air, there was land – so now it was time for water. So, I immersed myself in the pirate underworld of DAVY x JONES, an action-adventure, revenge-driven journey featuring a legendary sea monster. Another title I managed to try out was Into the Underworld, a dark fantasy roguelite where deck building meets real-time battles. Finally, I warmed up my vocal cords and started shouting the magic words in Mad Bang Bang, the world’s first game powered entirely by vocal commands. 

The first day at the PGA was definitely eventful. Our first contact with the fair gave us a lot of satisfaction, but at the same time it also whetted our appetite for more attractions. Fortunately, we were not disappointed, and the following days surprised us even more – you can read about what happened next in the following parts.
