Perceptum is an upcoming psychological horror title developed by the two-person team at Duck Reaction, and early impressions suggest it could be one to watch for fans of slow-burn, atmosphere-driven horror. It doesn’t have a release date yet, but you can wishlist it on Steam.

The game places you in the role of a medium investigating the mysterious disappearance of an entire family who vanished shortly after moving into a new home. With the police having long abandoned the case, you are left to explore the now-empty house, piecing together what happened through environmental clues and subtle storytelling.

Central to the experience are two mechanics that shape how you interact with the world. A pocket watch-like mirror reveals hidden traces, distorted reflections, and things that remain invisible to the naked eye, while a second mechanic allows players to close their eyes and rely solely on sound.

This auditory perspective introduces whispers and altered noises that can guide progress or solve puzzles, but at the cost of leaving players completely exposed. The constant trade-off between vision and sound creates an ongoing sense of unease, reinforcing the idea that something is always just out of sight.

Built in Unreal Engine 5, the game leans into a photorealistic style inspired by films like The Conjuring and Insidious, blending familiar environments with unsettling distortions. Early reactions to the available playtest on Steam have been largely positive, with some even drawing comparisons to P.T. for its ability to create tension without relying on excessive jump scares.
