The developer behind Dead Cells, Motion Twin, has released the first gameplay trailer for Windblown, their upcoming roguelike action game set to launch in Early Access for PC via Steam later in 2024.
In Windblown, players will journey across vast, ever-shifting islands in the sky while using a variety of powerful weapons to defeat the Sentinels—deadly servants of the Vortex who threaten their home. Movement is simple yet precise, with quick leaps between floating islands and platforms. From the first jump into the autumnal biome, players will face numerous adversaries as they collect different weapons, artifacts, Gifts, and Fish to help unlock their Leaper’s full potential.
You’ll have a diverse arsenal of weapons at your disposal to customize your expeditions into the unknown. Whether found in hidden treasures or dropped after defeating bosses, each weapon has its own advantages to consider when shaping your ideal playstyle. Special attacks called Crystallize can also be used to destroy enemies with powerful finishers that charge up energy and provide greater rewards.
Additionally, throughout your journey, you can unlock Fish that possess extremely useful abilities that are sure to affect the Sentinels. For example, the Gobbling Fish can leap in a straight line and devour an enemy in its path. Fish have long cooldown periods between uses, meaning their effectiveness becomes even more significant when combined with the strength of additional Leapers through online co-op gameplay, where each player can deploy their unique Fish ability.
