Developer Vertex Zero and publisher Red Dunes Games have released a brand-new extended trailer for Silent Planet – Elegy of a Dying World, and it’s quickly becoming one of the more visually striking indie sci-fi games on the horizon.
Set in the year 2997, the game follows Apranik, a lone traveler exploring a decaying planet in search of an ancient artifact connected to the origins of life itself. What starts as a mysterious expedition slowly turns into something far darker, with cosmic horror elements woven deeply into the world and story.
From the new footage, it’s clear that atmosphere is one of the game’s biggest strengths. The environments feel haunting and lonely, blending gothic sci-fi architecture with surreal alien landscapes. At the same time, the metroidvania-inspired progression system encourages exploration, unlocking new powers and abilities to access hidden paths and secrets.
Combat also plays a major role, featuring psychokinetic abilities and fast-paced encounters against unsettling creatures lurking inside the ruins of this dying world. Combined with its heavy lore focus and eerie presentation, Silent Planet seems aimed directly at players who enjoy narrative-driven exploration with a darker tone.
Silent Planet will launch in 2027 on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
