The French indie team behind the roguelite ScourgeBringer is getting ready to take a big next step. Flying Oak Games recently shared a first tease of their next project, with a full reveal planned for 2026. This new game marks a clear change in direction for the studio, moving away from tight, closed levels and toward a larger action-adventure built around story, characters, and open spaces.
The short preview released on X so far shows an isometric pixel-art world filled with bright neon colors. Setting looks like a cyberpunk city washed in purple and pink light, where two animal-like characters fight on raised platforms against the main protagonist. At the same time, the developers say they want to mix serious drama with moments of humor and lighthearted energy.
The team also confirmed that the game uses hand-drawn outlines and animated isometric sprites that shape the combat areas during fights. While difficult to build, this system helps make battles easier to read and gives the game a strong visual style.
Despite the stronger focus on story, the developers have not forgotten their arcade roots. Flying Oak Games confirmed that players will be able to skip dialogue and use a special “power-through” mode. This option lets players move past exploration and story moments to focus only on combat, offering a more direct and fast-paced experience.
Next year we'll announce our new game!
