Stellaris: Nexus Seems Like Paradox’s Version of Twilight Imperium

Stellaris Nexus is a tabletop/board game strategy game that delivers a complete 4X genre experience in about one hour. Choose your unique faction and leader, challenge up to 5 other players, and plan, fight, and strategically oppose one another to rule the galaxy.

If you are not well-acquainted with Stellaris or found the game too demanding, you can look forward to a shortened and accelerated version — Stellaris Nexus. This iteration of the legendary space simulator emphasizes fast tactical and strategic elements rather than a deep narrative. It speeds up the game in various ways, such as using a turn timer, transforming spaceship combat into a complex round of rock-paper-scissors, and implementing a card-game-like mechanic for production, research, and construction.

The Stellaris Nexus Early Access version provides support for single and multiplayer, allowing for offline and online play. It also offers the ability to find teammates based on skill and includes a single-player narrative with the first four missions. In the Succession mode, all competitors vie for points, which they can earn, among other ways, by taking the title of the Nexus, the central throne.

The full version of the game is expected to introduce a ranked mode, additional factions and leaders, a full narrative campaign, and a wealth of new research technologies, construction projects, diplomatic schemes, spaceship fleets, exploration events, player titles, and resolutions.

Whatboy, the studio developing the game, anticipates that Nexus will be available in Early Access for six months, while the 1.0 version will have a higher price. The game is available on Steam.
