The medieval fantasy city-builder Pioneers of Pagonia is gearing up for a big year. After a period in Early Access on Steam, the game is now set to launch its full version in the second half of 2025. Developer Envision Entertainment recently shared their first “roadmap” for 2025, announcing two major updates and the long-awaited campaign.
The first update, called the “Major Economy Update,” is coming soon and thoroughly overhauls the core game mechanics. Previously, players could dive into the world of Pagonia with a fully equipped settlement, ready to conquer the land. Now, there is an option for a more modest beginning: a handful of Pagonians, no supplies, and a lot of ambition. This new mode allows you to slowly craft resources, goods, and buildings from scratch, bringing more rewarding challenges.
Besides new starting options, the update also improves and balances settlement development. Eight new buildings join the roster, giving players even more tools to shape their medieval villages. A new economic overview screen allows for progress tracking, so you can see your village’s growth at a glance. The world itself also gets a visual refresh, with optimized map generation that introduces dramatic, winding landscapes and steep cliffs.
Later in 2025, the second update will focus on creativity and player feedback. A Map Editor will allow players to design their own worlds with extensive customization options, and you’ll even be able to share and play maps created by others directly in the game. While details about the campaign are still under wraps, Envision promises that it is coming and is sure to add the narrative depth that fans are eagerly anticipating.
