The Last Caretaker joins Xbox Game Pass with its 1.0 launch

The Last Caretaker will leave Early Access in spring 2027, and Channel37 is preparing a much larger audience for the occasion. Its full version will launch through Xbox Game Pass on day one across PC and Xbox, while existing players still have several substantial updates ahead of them.

The survival-crafting game entered Steam Early Access in November 2025. According to figures provided by the developer, it has since sold more than 400,000 copies, with players spending an average of approximately 50 hours exploring its flooded world.

Players control an android attempting to preserve humanity after rising oceans have consumed almost the entire planet. Scattered industrial structures provide materials, machinery and fragments of the past, while hostile machines turn each expedition beyond safety into a considerable risk.

Game Pass should introduce that unusual setting to players who might have hesitated to purchase another complicated survival game during Early Access. It also gives Channel37 an opportunity to establish a larger community precisely when the experience is supposed to become feature-complete.

Before then, Update 6.0, named “The Future”, is planned for October 2026. The roadmap continues through several additional releases leading into version 1.0. You can see how the current roadmap has been developing in our coverage of The Last Caretaker Update 5.5.

Channel37 is also avoiding the increasingly common suggestion that reaching 1.0 means development immediately stops. The studio says it will continue adding systems, locations, stories, fixes and other content after the full release.
