Chronoscript: The Endless End Delayed to Improve Combat and Readability

Chronoscript: The Endless End will no longer arrive in fall 2026. Shueisha Games and DeskWorks! have moved the illustrated action adventure into early summer 2027, giving the team additional time to respond to demo feedback and polish a game that can already be completed from beginning to end.

Director Tom Fujii apologised for the longer wait but explained that development has reached the point where the entire main game is playable. The remaining work will concentrate on refinement rather than building unfinished chapters.

Several planned changes directly affect how the protagonist handles. Attack recovery will become faster, input buffering is being improved and players will gain more movement during attacks. Healing should also take less time, while character sliding when changing direction is being adjusted.

DeskWorks! is additionally working on clearer text, better character visibility and redesigned menus. These might sound like modest changes individually, but readability and responsiveness can determine whether difficult action feels demanding or merely awkward.

Chronoscript follows an editor trapped inside an enormous manuscript written by a long-dead author. Its world combines hand-drawn environments with exploration and side-scrolling combat, as players move between pages and attempt to bring a thousand-year narrative to its long-overdue conclusion. We recently explored those ideas in our Gamescom 2026 preview.

A delay is naturally disappointing, particularly after players had already been given a fall window. However, announcing it before that season properly begins is considerably better than rushing toward an increasingly unrealistic date.
