HEIMA Makes Parallel Worlds Part Of Its Puzzle Design

HEIMA begins with a familiar missing-person mystery, but its solution apparently requires moving through realities with completely different physical laws. Amber Games and Kenei Design have announced the spatial puzzle-action game for PC, with a Steam release planned for 2028.

The story follows Eigen, whose older brother Shunei disappears during an experiment involving newly developed teleportation technology. The transportation network accidentally connects with a parallel world, leading Eigen into a journey where he encounters alternate versions of himself shaped by different personalities, environments and histories.

These counterparts won’t always be friendly. Some will cooperate with Eigen, while others will oppose him as the mystery gradually connects Shunei’s disappearance to the survival of the parallel worlds.

In fact, HEIMA puzzles revolve around two complementary abilities. SHIFT swaps the positions of objects, while HOLD prevents something from moving. Combining both powers can reshape the surrounding space, allowing players to decide what should move between positions and what must remain fixed.

The concept sounds straightforward, but changing physical rules between realities could give those abilities considerably more depth. Good puzzle games rarely need dozens of mechanics when two carefully developed ideas can continually be placed in new situations.

The project was selected for Japan’s 2025 support initiative for emerging media-arts creators. A playable build will appear at Tokyo Game Show 2026, running from September 17–21 at Makuhari Messe, giving attendees an unusually early opportunity to try a game still targeting 2028.
