Solo developer Joure Visser, creator of the 2023 hit Don’t Scream, returns with a new project DEADCAM. This ’90s-inspired survival horror game is set to release in Steam Early Access on June 23, 2025, with a demo available during Steam Next Fest this June. Drawing inspiration from the aesthetics of classic J-horror and American slasher films, this “found-footage” adventure promises a series of terrifying encounters.

DEADCAM takes you through a series of eerie “tapes,” where each is a standalone story with unique settings, narratives, and gameplay mechanics. The Early Access launch will begin with the first of five planned tapes: a Japanese horror-inspired story set in an abandoned high school. It will last approximately one hour and blends survival horror with a psychological thriller. Four additional tapes will be released during the Early Access period.

The first tape will equip you with three weapons: a katana, a pistol, and a shotgun. Firearms require precise aiming but slow down movement, while melee weapons offer speed. Resource management is a strategic element of this game, with limited medkits requiring careful planning for survival. Each tape offers three endings, but there is only one “good” ending.
