After years of updates, expansions, and post-launch support, Sea of Stars has officially reached the end of its journey. Developer Sabotage Studio has released the Sunset Edition, the final major update for its acclaimed RPG, bringing new story content, gameplay tweaks, and a stunning cinematic opening sequence designed to give fans one last reason to revisit the adventure.

The biggest addition is a fully animated introduction that explores key figures from the game’s lore who were previously only mentioned in passing. The sequence sets up the story of Valere and Zale while providing fresh context for the world and its history. A later flashback scene has also been expanded with additional storytelling elements.

Beyond the narrative additions, the update includes balance adjustments aimed at refining both Normal and Hard difficulties. Sabotage has also reworked some of the challenge relics to create a smoother progression curve while still rewarding players looking for a tougher experience.

The Sunset Edition arrives alongside several platform updates. Sea of Stars now supports Nintendo Switch 2 natively, including save transfers from the original Switch version and GameShare functionality for local co-op. The RPG has also launched on GOG, but you can find it on Steam too.

For Sabotage Studio, this release represents a final farewell before turning its full attention to Project Sparrow, the team’s next game set in the same universe.
