If you’re a fan of Stardew Valley but prefer the hustle and bustle of city life, we have good news for you. One of the former Stardew Valley developers, Arthur “Mr. Podunkian” Lee, has announced his newest game called Sunkissed City.
This game combines the beloved aspects of Stardew Valley with a vibrant, sun-drenched coastal metropolis filled with intriguing characters. Although there isn’t a trailer yet, the game’s Steam page displays some interesting screenshots. According to the game’s description on Steam, players will embody a “freshly hired staff member in the Pico Corporation’s new ‘Peco Pioneer’ pilot program.”
Your task will be to build relationships within the lively Apollo community and advocate for the corporation’s new ecological initiatives. However, not everything is perfect: wildlife is growing more aggressive, the waters are lifeless, monsters are crawling out of the canals, and that’s not even mentioning the constant migraines plaguing the residents.
Unlike Stardew Valley, where players have their own farm, in Sunkissed City, players can engage in home gardening organized by a local “plant-punk” group or spend peaceful afternoons in the park with a good book or sipping coffee with the patrons of the Weird Dog Café. Fishing and foraging will also be possible. It seems the gameplay version of mines will be replaced by monster-filled canals.
Sunkissed City offers an alternative life for those who may have grown tired of fresh air and growing their own vegetables. It promises to be an intriguing and original game that allows players to explore the charms of life in an exciting city.
The game is expected to be released in the fourth quarter of 2024, although the exact date has not been revealed. The PC version (Steam) will be released first, followed by console versions.
