The upcoming action-adventure game Aeterna Lucis, to be published by Aeternum Game Studios, is the sequel to the acclaimed 2021 game Aeterna Noctis. Although it was originally planned for release last year, the studio decided to postpone the game to have enough time for polishing and incorporating more advanced technology, such as improved lighting.
Aeterna Lucis will therefore be available in September 2025 for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch, and PC via Steam. This time, the focus is on a new protagonist, the Queen of Light, who awakens in a world on the brink of collapse, facing the challenge of preventing the universe’s downfall and finding her old enemy.
Following the events of Aeterna Noctis, where the King of Darkness and the Queen of Light were cursed to fight eternally, the balance between light and darkness is suddenly broken. Aeterna Lucis brings the classic Metroidvania formula, retaining the dynamic combat and exploration of interconnected maps that characterized the previous game, but introduces new abilities and weapons specific to the Queen of Light. The game world encompasses various locations, from landscapes inspired by stained glass to dangerous darkness, with impressive boss battles that test your skills.
