Untold Tales, in collaboration with Atlas V, Fishing Cactus, 3DAR, and ARTE France, has announced Gloomy Eyes, a singleplayer cozy horror adventure set to launch on PC via Steam, PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and Nintendo Switch in late 2025.
Originally a 2019 VR movie narrated by Colin Farrell, this expanded adaptation transforms the award-winning experience into a full-length game, complete with Tim Burton-inspired aesthetic reminiscent of Corpse Bride and The Nightmare Before Christmas.
In a world of eternal darkness, Gloomy Eyes follows Gloomy, a sweet zombie boy, and Nena, a mischievous human girl. Their forbidden friendship defies the conflict between the living and undead as they quest to find the sun and restore its light.
The game features a unique “self-coop” mechanic, letting players alternate control between the characters in a singleplayer experience. Each has distinct abilities, requiring strategic switching to solve environmental puzzles. Levels are rotatable, handcrafted dioramas, full of eerie details and charm, inviting exploration from multiple angles.
