Studio IGGYMOB has released a new combat trailer for Gungrave G.O.R.E: Blood Heat, demonstrating how the rebuilt shooter intends to improve the original game rather than simply place prettier graphics over it.

The footage centres on Beyond the Grave’s expanded combat options, including new parries and parry counters. Grave can still fill the screen with bullets using his enormous Cerberus pistols, but he now has additional close-range attacks for dealing with enemies that survive long enough to approach him.

Blood Heat is described as a complete rebuild of 2022’s Gungrave G.O.R.E. Studio IGGYMOB has moved production to Unreal Engine 5, rebuilding its characters, environments, effects, cinematics and overall atmosphere for modern hardware.

Movement has also received considerable attention. The previous eight-direction control system has been replaced by full 360-degree movement, accompanied by rewritten animations and a faster combat tempo. Players will be able to interact with objects inside levels, while upgraded enemy AI and more varied opponents should create situations requiring more than continuous gunfire.

The original game already delivered the explosions and wonderfully excessive gun kata associated with Gungrave, but Blood Heat needs mechanical improvements to justify rebuilding such a recent release. Parries, closer-range combat and more natural movement suggest IGGYMOB understands that challenge.

The game will also feature new characters and a redesigned Beyond the Grave created by Gungrave character designer Yasuhiro Nightow. Gungrave G.O.R.E: Blood Heat on Steam is planned for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S and PC in 2026. A precise release date remains unannounced.
